Take Care (Drake Medley) - Joseph SoMo and Cody Tarpley

Someone showed me this song a couple months ago and it's really stuck with me since. I'm a massive Drake fan (and although some people fail to see the value in his songs, I've completely been convinced of his talent with the Take Care album) so this medley was always going to be a hit, but wow. This guy is talented. This song really has something that stays with you, I've shown it to a load of friends who have all loved it, so even one more person hearing of this guy is great. This song has a PERFECT mix of a couple songs off Drake's new album and his transitions really are impeccable. Enjoy,

He also earlier this year dropped a remix of J. Coles famous Work Out. This song also has a great feel to it and to me the chorus is one of the best renditions i've heard. He changes the speed ever so slightly and the stress on different syllables, it works incredibly according to me.

Payphone (feat. Wiz Khalifa) - Maroon 5

So i'm a bit late on this one, but to be honest I never gave this song a chance and although i'm a big Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa fan I was slightly annoyed at the kind of buzz this song was getting, it seemed like before it had properly been heard it was already a radio/mainstream hit. Although once I gave it a proper listen combined with the nice blue belgium skies today I have to say it struck a cord within me (pardon the pun).

To download this song I'd suggest torrenting it or just youtube ripping it.

Bombs Away - B.o.B

Two days from the official release of B.o.B's new album Strange Clouds, I stumble upon this. The full album has already leaked online (B.o.B - Strange Clouds) - Click to Download. I have yet to properly listen to it properly but it really does sound like another solid B.o.B album. I'm not much a fan of his last mixtape EPIC: Every Play Is Crucial, but this album seems to promise a lot better.

This particular song features the ever so amazing Morgan Freeman with a voice over speaking. This gives the song a very special vibe, hope to see more of this kind of effort on the album.

Call Me Maybe - Timeflies Tuesday

This is Tuesday's release. I've taken a few days to listen to it and although I have to admit musically I hated the original (Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae), Timeflies again have done the impossible and I actually enjoy listening to this version. It really does say so much about these two, how they can continuously put out music that just works, week in, week out.

The song has so far gotten more than 400,000 views on Youtube in 2 days since it's release

I wont provide a link just yet to this song, but to download this song I suggest downloading DVDSoft (Click to Download), and use the Youtube converter to MP3. The program is really simple to use, you just copy paste the link into the program and select an output folder. It works for all Youtube videos.

I am a Child - Dieter Schaaf

After really just discovering this song and artist, I have to say i'm really, really impressed. I'm still figuring out first impressions, but the vibe instantly got me here. Needless to say i'll be downloading his full mixtape. (I Am a Child - Click to Download). The song itself has a really cool beat to it and a really laidback sound. Enjoy.

UPDATE: It's now about a few hours later, and really that quickly I know this guy is just simply amazing. Beyond amazing. Below is the full album, and I promise it's INCREDIBLE. I've been listening to it over and over and it's got this absoloutely amazing feel to it. A kind of relaxing and refreshing vibe. I'm really excited about this guy releasing more music soon. Download for the entire album is linked above.

Stop the Wackness (Buried Ya) - QuESt

QuESt. This guy is really talented. He recently dropped a mixtape entitled Fear Not Failure (Click to Download). This mixtape was about in a year in the making so although this song just released is good, if you even remotely enjoy this song I strongly suggest downloading the mixtape as it really is the finished product. The song Stop the Wackness (Buried Ya) was recently dropped and is a release to ride the recent success and although not as impressive is still a great song.

To start off :The Walk (prod. Mt. Eden) - QuESt  is really impressive and worth a listen

And of course, for the latest release.

2020 - Sol

Sol is another rapper along with Macklemore from the city of Seattle in the US. Recently I've noticed a sharp upturn in rap culture and artists emerging from here which might say something about the City. Macklemore speaks of Seattle's Hip Hop culture (The Town) in certain songs which suggests a rich history there.

This specific song is just one of many very good songs by him, but has a really awesome vibe with a neat video to go with it.

HAUS Volume #1 - 3LAU

I'm not usually one to listen to or like 35 minute mixes like this, but this really is a great mix. 3LAU is a 21 year old singer/producer who caught my eye in the last few months. Even if you're not a fan of this type of music i'd suggest having a listen and sticking with it for a bit, and of course, turn up your speakers.

Enjoy.

Escape - OnCue

My friend Usama Ahmed just showed me this song off OnCue's mixtape from last year: Cuey Sings The Blues (Click to Download).

Give this song a listen, I'll have an update on my opinion of the full mixtape later this week/next week.

No Sleep (Urban Noize Remix) - Wiz Khalifa

Chill Song.

Wiz is another rapper that I really like. I've seen him live before and should be again this summer, which to me adds to how special he is; also seeing that I've been following his music since his earlier Mixtapes and his success lately is always nice to see.

This song is a remix by the very consistent Urban Noize who have been making a steady name for themselves out there.

If you allow yourself to let go of your previous notions based on how the song SHOULD like (the original No Sleep), this remix, with a more laid-back chill vibe is really impressive

Daydreamer (Ft. Example) (Dillon Francis Remix) - Flux Pavilion

Joshua Steele (Flux Pavillion) is an English Dubstep producer I really like. Take a great song and add Dillon Francis to it and you get this. Not much to say other than the fact that this song is fucking filthy. I really recommend watching the video and hearing it and then downloading it. The drop around 1:08 is unreal and continues throughout the song.

Not Getting Any Better - Klaypex

Now for some Dubstep/(Electro)House!

Klaypex is a duo from Miami on the rise. These two produce songs together and have already dropped a free EP called Loose Dirt (Click to download)

The most famous song on this EP was without a doubt Lights (Click to download) but another very interesting track with a lot of energy is Not Getting Any Better (Innerpartysystem). (Click to download)

Only One - Sammy Adams (Youtube Live Version)

Sam Adams might not be appreciated for the best lyrics or the deepest message behind his songs. But the "Frat Rap" vibe can be really impressive in it's own dosage. From parties to just hanging around his songs often give off a great feeling, while remaining care-free.

This song debuted a couple weeks ago, and attached is a Youtube video of a cross between a live performance and a Music Video. It seems it will appear on his long overdue album out sometime soon.

Let It Go - StartYourOwnRebellion [Ft. J. Cole]

This song is a collaboration between J. Cole and SYOR (Start Your Own Rebellion). Since its release i've really appreciated the vibe and message behind it. I've been an avid J. Cole fan since seeing him live and love the work he's done in this track. Cole World.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

This will be one of the most important posts to me as Macklemore really is one of my favourite artists out there today. In this genre, lyrically he's by far and away the best to me. I discovered him about a year ago and have downloaded almost every single song and loved pretty much each one. He has this feeling of pure honesty in his songs, something inspiring, something new. While his music might not strike you as immediately catchy or even interesting I promise that listening well is really worth it.

His first music dropped in 2000 under the name Professor Macklemore, he then continued  to drop music up until now (with a break of 4 years due to personal problems in his life involving substance abuse). I'm happy he got over it.

In 2008 Macklemore joined up with Ryan Lewis who to date works together with Macklemore to produce the tracks.

Each album and mixtape below have some gems worth discovering.

A couple favourites:

Downloads: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Victory Lap (off the new Freshman XXL  2012 Mixtape)
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Wings
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – Make The Money

Youtube Links :Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - My Oh My (Official Video) (Even if you're not from         Seattle, this is a ridiculously touching song.)
                        Macklemore - Contradiction
Macklemore - Inhale Deep (Amazing lyrics, truly amazing.)
Macklemore - Otherside (One of the more known songs, again a very good song)

I'll end it there for now as this post is getting long (although there really are MANY more tracks i'd like to include) and in future i'll try to keep them short, but this really had to be an exception. If anyone takes the time to go through his stuff, let me know what you think.

Tic Tac Toe - Logic

Next up, Logic.

This rapper has been picking up pace with the imminent drop of his new mixtape (Young Sinatra : Undeniable). Tic Tac Toe is the final release and while not the deepest, most meaninful song, it is still a really fun enjoyable song that i've been enjoying since it dropped.

Previous Releases (Logic - War Vet, Logic - Numbers, Logic - The Spogtlight, Logic - Young Sinatra III)
Apparently the play button won't work for most people although the download (top right) should work.

Lights Collide - Timeflies Tuesday

This specific song dropped last week, and like every Tuesday, the duo Cal and Rob have really done it again for me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf41rmQMKms

I'm not giving a download link here because of unclear copyright with their songs, so i'm going to post another link soon with a way how to rip youtube videos in high quality just for information. Of course doing so for most copyrighted songs as far as I know is illegal.

Now, getting back to the song; it's a cover of Howie Day - Collide. While this song doesn't feature the regular great freestyle from Cal it's still very impressive to me and demonstrates once again how much he can sing.

I'll also post another link with my favourites from this duo because this one song really isn't enough.

I've followed Timeflies for a while now and seen them grow and blow up tremendously, but it would make me even happier to see them get even more recognition.

As for now, enjoy.

and it'd be interesting to hear what people think of this type of song vs a more rapping versed one.

Ghost - 2pac

First post, Old song.

After the simply stunning Coachella 2012 performance (complete with a hologram and all) I think it's vital to have seen this video. Not everyone is the biggest fan of 2pac and although i've made sure to download all his songs I still haven't listened to all of them.

(Video Link of Coachella 2012)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGbrFmPBV0Y

Now the reason for posting this song (Ghost - 2pac) is that the intro eerily once again has 2pac speaking of his own death. Although not one of his finest lyrical artworks, there's no doubt this is a great pump up song.

Interesting to note: This song appeared on his 2003 Documentary Soundtrack largely produced by Eminem. This song was in fact produced by Eminem of whom I have undying love for.

Download link to follow.

Welcome Post

I've decided to start a music blog. Credits go to Felix for finally getting me to do this. The point of this really lies in just creating a central area to post music. My taste in music varies quite greatly so I consider myself someone who enjoys music quite intensely on a daily basis but of course not someone who's an expert of any sort. Even if it's just a couple friends who check this blog, as long as someone's looking this should be a lot of fun. I intend to regularly post music i'm enjoying at the time and both classics I enjoy that I stumble across at any point. Although I enjoy quite a range of different kinds of music, at this point I intend to post the likes of Hip-hop, Rap, Dubstep and occasionally some of my favourite House music tunes.

Everyone of course is welcome to discuss and comment on the posts and in fact i'd appreciate discussion as long as it remains somewhat positive. Enjoy.
