Dunson - Used to Know (Ft. Lazee)

So, cue the groans; yes, another song with Gotye. But this song using this song as a sample really does it well. I remember when I first heard Dunson I was a bit neutral, but he's been picking up pace recently in my mind and my interest has increased greatly. This song helped a lot. A nice beat, and a very nice combo between Dunson and Lazee creates an all-round impressive track.

Same Love - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

I'm a few days late posting this, but to be honest, there was never a moment this wasn't going up. Not only is everything Macklemore and Ryan Lewis just pure gold, but this song represents so much more than just a couple words to a beat. It's true that it's a sad world when we have to be proud of not being homophobic, but it's a sad truth. It's simple, the world needs more people like this duo. When you have the power to speak to people through music and a fast growing following, saying something that truly matters is beyond just a good thing to do. Also, I don't really ever buy music but this I bought, this I will support. So in spirit, I won't be providing a free download, but rather the iTunes link.

I am a Child (Video) - Dieter Schaaf

I'll start this off with a bit of honesty, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that the artists i'd be posting about would notice my blog or anything of the sorts. Nonetheless, Dieter found time to write back to me about my previous post (Here) and I have every intention of doing anything I can to promote this guy. I believe I had some very positive comments upon the release of the album and it's really only gotten better. A couple of months on I have to say I'm just as entranced as I was the very first day, and I've found myself constantly listening to it and I'm dead excited for anything to come. I have to admit, I wont call myself an actual expert of anything music related but I know for sure this guy is going to go on to special things, it literally doesn't compute that this guy doesn't have WAY more fans, but i'm sure he'll keep on growing, and even if this only reaches a couple thousand people, I know many of you out there will be just as impressed as I am. Look forward to more from this guy on here!

The video itself is exactly what I expected and more, there's that feeling of pure honesty and realism in what he does, something I hope he never loses. With it he's going to touch a lot of people's lives.

Follow this guy! Let's get a movement going!

Living Things - Linkin Park (Album Highlights)

Linkin Park are a band i've listened to since the days of 3rd grade. They're something that mean more to me because of the fact i've had undying love for them for so long, so your first thought will probably be: what are they doing amidst all these artists on a site like this? I don't plan on radically changing the type of music I put up here because of the audience i'm currently posting for probably wouldn't appreciate it as much if I did so. Linkin Park in recent years have taken a very different change in direction, one that at times pains me even though I do my best to accept it and love it. I feel as if something's been lost, but one thing cannot be doubted, they can still make very, very good music. Their recent album Living Things has in many ways suprised me and I wanted to post two songs I've been very keen on in recent days on that album.

Powerless:

Roads Untraveled:

The latter is a song not to be underestimated in its lyrical value. This kind of music really hits home.

Call Me Crazy - PJ Simas

This is a song I've really liked since its release from an artist that has impressed me on a regular basis since I discovered him a while ago. What separates the good from the great is this rate of consistency, an ability to bring out great songs more than once (Timeflies shoutout, the undisputable KINGS).

Anyway, without further a do, I bring to you...

Keep Your Friends Close - Dylan Owen

It's been a while again since i've posted and I really am going to try to be committed to posting more frequently from now on. If it's any excuse last week I spent my time at Rock Werchter 2012 (which was incredible, if you ever have the chance to go, I highly recommend it). However, the show goes on right...? (Lupe Fiasco currently playing in my head)

Unfortunately Dylan Owen was not among the vast array of artists I witnessed at this festival, but he's someone that i've been listening to non-stop for the past few days. This is another reason why I love exploring music of this kind, I've been listening to this guy for about a year now, following most of what he releases but there are several songs that come on, on shuffle or the sorts and just re-open this intense interest in what someone like him has to say.

This guy has SO much to share, and he's blessed with an indisputable talent to communicate these things in a very artful way that just feels honest. I think that's becoming a very recurring theme with me, I think I pick my music across genres with what sometimes feels more genuine, or real... (not always though, I wont lie..I'm guilty of enjoying the occasional mindless ghetto rap etc.) I'll stop here however, my descriptions won't do this man justice, but if I can ever vouch for someone unknown, it'l be him.

Notable Songs

Ghosts - Dylan Owen
The Book Report - Dylan Owen
Burn This Whole Place Down - Dylan Owen

Have a listen (Download at the bottom as always...),
